Arabic Music

Arabic music is listened quite profusely in many parts of the world. Arabian music is quite similar to Persian and Turkish music in many aspects. Arabic music was evolved in the time of Greek civilization. Many diverse civilizations and art forms have contributed in the development of Arabic music. The influence of Greek, Roman, Phoenician, Persian, Islamic and European culture can be clearly seen in the Arabic music. It’s a culmination of various mixed heritages which has kept on enthralling and soothes millions of music lovers all over the world.

Arabian music was more traditional in nature before 1950. But since then, Arabian music has adopted best components of western music.

This fusion was termed Arabic pop which is basically a blend of Arabic instruments and lyrics with western styled songs. In general, this music is homophonic in nature barring the exceptions of few genres.

Arabic songs focus more on rhythm and melody. Dalida is considered as the pioneer in the world of this fascinating music.

Other famous Arabic singers are, Sabah, Kadhem Al Saher, Warda Al-Jazairia, Nawal Al Zoghbi, Nawal El Kuwaiti, Magida El Roumi, Haifa Wehbe, Latifa, Asalah Nasri, Wael Kfoury, Amal Hijazi, Elissa to name a few.
